Review & Giveaway: Guarding Poppy by Christine Wenrick

Author: Christine Wenrick
Title: Guarding Poppy
Series: Men of Brahm Hill #2
Genre: Paranormal romance/ Adult
Purchase: Amazon
My Rating:

One night . . . one violent, supernatural battle . . . and five stories of the men whose lives will be changed by it.

Alec Lambert was born to lead. He’s a ruling Elder of The Brethren, possessing steely confidence, natural smarts, and decisive problem solving abilities . . . and he’s not too bad on the eyes, either. Everything in his life has gone exactly according to plan—until the night of Brahm Hill. Alec loses his best friend at the hands of the uncle he trusted like a father, along with his previously unshakable faith to lead those with whom he’s charged. Despite this, he continues to press ahead, and for his next assignment he’s asked to protect a very beautiful but very clumsy Dhampir who’s being hunted by a powerful warlock. Suddenly, he finds his whole Brethren world is turned upside down . . . and he finds himself harboring a desire for her he can’t explain.

Poppy Honeywell knows she’s far from perfect. Bad things tend to happen when she’s around. She’s more than a little clumsy, with a phobia or two mixed in. Not to mention that her name is certainly unusual. But she doesn’t have time to worry about all that because she’s on the run and not about to back down from the arrogant Elder who’s just been assigned as her protector. The real problem, though . . . she’s irresistibly drawn to this man who faces constant danger and takes charge so naturally. But Poppy also sees that taking charge of others helps Alec mask his own very deep pain.

Will Alec find his way out of the darkness and surrender to his feelings for Poppy before the warlock chasing her catches up to them both?

Poppy Honeywell`s entire body stiffened at the sound of the other woman's high-pitched screams attacking her ears.

Loved the storyline. Never a dull moment! I was so happy that Alec was going to get his own book since I loved him in the first book as well as in the Charmed series. And oh boy was I not disappointed at all! The book was steamy, action packed, funny and sad. It had everything.
I have said it before but will do again: Christine Wenrick is an amazing writer. I have been there from the start with her first book and she keeps on getting better and better. I can really recommend any of her books. She really has a gift for making you fall in love with her characters as well as the story itself.

So, to the characters themselves. We are told a story about Alec and Poppy.
Alec is the brooding former guardian turned elder. He is very introvert and gives his everything to his work. He hides away in his office and has a really hard time letting other people into his life. This because of loosing his best friend in book one. He holds immense grief over what happened and has a hard time letting go. I feel so bad for him in the beginning of the book.
In walks the sassy and quirky Poppy. She was really lovable but also annoying at times. It didn´t matter though cause I liked her a lot anyway.
Poppy thinks she is cursed and has been her whole life. When her mother is killed, Alec is charged to protect her as a formed guardian. This turn out to be harder than expected since they fall for each other....

Poppy and Alec´s love story is hot and steamy. There are a lot of sweet moments between these two and also some very sexy moments. *sigh*

Action packed!
Since Alec is to protect Poppy from the powerful warlock hunting her there is constantly action in the book. Some of is was kick ass and some of it was really sad. I found myself biting the nails more than once. It was just the right amount of action combined with love and steaminess. lol

Loved the cover! Who would´t like the back of such a hunky male? :)

Finally Back and Newlywed!! =)

Hi everyone!

I am now back in the blogger world again. Newlywed and happier than ever before :)
So happy to be able to have time for the blog again.
The wedding was everything I could dream of. No major mishaps either. Pewh!
The weather gods where on our side and the sun was shining on us. We had an outside garden wedding with the reception in a tent and the ceremony under the blue sky.
After an amazing ceremony and dinner we had the party in the barn.
It was so perfect for me and my husband. hihi I haven´t gotten used to call him my husband yet! lol.

I thought I could share some pictures with you :)
